Driving directions:
Gallup Park Fuller Rd entrance (shortest walk)
Parking at Geddes Rd lot (longer scenic walkway across river)
At this long standing Ann Arbor Rainbow event, people with belly buttons gather by the big tree in Gallup Park, with guitars and drums, frisbees and fun toys, eat good potluck food and get caught up on things since we were last in the cathedral of nature. This is also a great event to find rides to gatherings, especially to the July 1-7 National (annual) Rainbow Gathering held in a different national forest each year. This year the annual gathering is in the Ozarks region, possibly AR, MO, or OK. We also often discuss a summer or fall regional gathering in the Great Lakes region, and this year is no exception.
This year may be especially important to show up to let your voice be heard: At last year’s vision counsel, Michigan was being considered for the 2026 annual gathering, and we need to have our ducks in a row to send a clear message to this year’s vision counsel, and this picnic may be our last chance to discuss it before vision counsel decides. There is also a protest at the federal building in Ann Arbor nearby, if you are in town for that you can drop by the picnic before and/or after.
Most often the second Saturday in June, starting sometime around hippie noon (usually after 1 pm, but no one knows how long after LOL), we spend some time eating, talking and playing. Most often, before sunset, we pass a talking stick around the circle to share our heartsongs, often discussing upcoming rainbow family events and community needs.
Please don’t forget to bring a dish to pass, your loving self and all good things. No alcohol please. Lovin you!
